“As the leader of the Black@Lumentum ERG I am excited about the opportunity to bring my experience in the DIB space to the table. There has been a lot of change in this space since my first encounter as a diversity educator back the late 1990s. Diversity today, while encompassing diversity of thought, must also maintain its consideration of ethnic and gender diversity. Studies have found that companies with more diverse representation outperform their less diverse peers.  

Specifically, in a 2018 report, McKinsey & Company found clearly that ethnic and gender diversity are “clearly correlated with profitability,” but women and minorities remain underrepresented. Now juxtapose that with tech industry diversity performance. I am looking forward to partnering across the organization to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves, in terms of the under representation of certain ethnic groups and women in leadership, to create a culture where all who join Lumentum know they are valued, welcomed, and that they belong!”

"I recently joined Lumentum's DIB Council. I enjoy seeing each group's different focus based on location and demographic, but all with enthusiasm to improve DIB and become a better company. The continuous promotion of DIB to strengthen every employee's image at different levels positively affects our daily decisions.
