Penelope Herscher was elected to the Lumentum Board of Directors in 2015.

Penelope Herscher is a seasoned technology public company board director, executive, and entrepreneur, with more than 15 years of experience as a high-tech CEO in Silicon Valley and more than 15 years of experience serving on public company boards.

Herscher currently serves on the Board of Directors of Forvia SA, an automotive parts manufacturer, SMART Global Holdings, a technology solutions company, and on one private company board, Modern Life, Inc. Previously, from 2004 to 2015, she served as Chief Executive Officer of FirstRain, a privately held company in the unstructured data analytics space, and as Chief Executive Officer of Simplex Solutions, a publicly traded electronic design automation company. She also held C-level and senior executive positions at Cadence Design Systems, Inc. and Synopsys, Inc.

Herscher holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), MA from Cambridge University in England.
